In 1958, there was an outbreak of unprecedented violence in a small boarding school in rural Alaska. Students became vicious and rebelled against the staff members and the faculty fought back with equal ferocity. The classrooms went up in fire and ice and several were left injured. Since then, most of those who remember have died. Their memories are gone and have been lost forever.
However, these recollections are not completely lost. Inside the mind of David Winston MacGyvers III, now a professor of archaeology at the prestigious Yale University, these thoughts haunt him day and night. Einstein Academy was the only school he attended before being accepted on a full-ride scholarship to Yale and he feels he owes something back to the relatives of those who died in the fight.
Fast-forward to 2015. The work of Dr. David Winston MacGyvers III is now complete and Albert Einstein School for the Gifted and Talented is now ready to re-open. Located about fifteen miles north-east of Fairbanks, Alaska, the campus sits on a vast 20-acre estate that once belonged to the previous school. Students are invited from all over the United States, Canada and the world to attend this prestigious high school education center and the faculty work hard to maintain a good face to the public.
However, inside the school is a completely different story. Two types of students are accepted to Albert Einstein: the gifted and the talented. The gifted have a mutation in their genes that cause them to have special powers, while those who are talented have extraordinary abilities in arts, music, academics, athletics or drama. Ever since the school opened up five years ago, these two groups have been at war with one another. Some faculty attempt to keep the peace, others turn the other way and still others aggravate the situation further.
To make matters worse, there is tension mounting in the world outside. Those with gifts are looked upon as dirty scum and the school is trying to hide these students to keep them safe; students with talents are being recruited only to be forced into media or academic slavery. You must make a decision about where you stand; once you choose, there’s no turning back.
Friendships will be tested, loyalties will be questioned and all Dr. MacGyvers and the rest of the faculty and students who have ever loved Albert Einstein School may fall. Will you let that happen?
