Name: (what is your character's name? please keep it reasonable to ethnicity and where your character grew up. for unusual names, we reserve the right to ask for an explanation in the background section.)
Her full name is Aquafina Marina, but she prefers to go by her last name, as she'll tell you herself in the 'sample' section.
Alias: (does your character have any other names he or she goes by?)
Other than her last name, she is also known as "La fille de la pluie."
Age: (how old is your character?)
17, or thereabouts. She's uncertain of her exact DOB.
Birthday: (when's your character's birthday? the year is not necessary)
She celebrates her birthday on the 9th of September; the anniversary of when she was found. Her actual birthday is not known.
Race: (see locked races and powers)
A "Spirit-de-l'Eau". Literally a water-spirit or water-elemental.
Hometown: (where in the world is your character from? at least give us a country...)
Originally France, but has lived in Britain for a while now.
Grade: (ninth, tenth, eleventh or twelfth? or college?)
Um... Whatever is suitable? Is 11th suitable for her age?
Gender: (generally male or female here...)
Female.
Sexuality: (straight? gay? bi? undecided? asexual? other? decline to answer?)
Bi-curious, though generally straight.
Appearance: (2 paragraphs, 4-5 sentences each.)
In her natural state she's a mass of very pure water, glowing slightly with an indefinable colour. While awake she is usually in her human form. She describes her human form in detail in the sample section.
Image: (optional. either just a link or host with photobucket or imageshack. no hotlinking!)
None, at present.
Personality: (3 paragraphs. 4-5 sentences each. include strengths, weaknesses, likes, dislikes)
She likes flirting, eating, relaxing, technology, fireworks and similar light-displays. She also likes it when people are trying to impress her, and she really likes chivalry. She gets upset when meta-humans take control of her water; she has been bullied this way in the past and it took her a long time to get over it. She dislikes bullies and will usually attempt to rescue a bullying-victim, unless the bully has water-related powers. She's more-or-less afraid of meta-humans with water-related powers, but this isn't an irrational fear; If the person is nice, friendship is still possible.
Due to telempathic powers (described in later section), she is a good listener and 'agony-aunt' type of person. For more about her personality, read what she says about herself in the sample section.
Greatest Fear: (what is your character the most afraid of?)
She has an active fear of total dispersal, which would mean her death. I.e. if she totally evaporated by fire or explosion.
Most Important Secret: (what's your character's most closely held secret?)
That any meta-human with water-controlling abilities can take control of her water away from her. Unfortunately she has experience of this, and what's worse is that it's quite evident to water-controllers themselves that they can control her water without her permission.
Character Background: (at least 3 paragraphs. 4-5 sentences each. explain about previous life, family, where your character grew up, how he/she discovered powers, etc.)
For a full description, see what she says about herself in the sample section. Here are some highlights:
She spent a lot of her early life in France, the rest in Britain.
She was found and adopted by her 'parents' on a very rainy 9th of September, 15 years ago.
Her 'father' is British, while her mother was born French-Canadian before moving to France where they eventually met and fell in love.
Powers: (maximum of three. no godmodding.)
Ability 1 – Liquid manipulation:
Restrictions:
Ability 2 – Telempathy*:
Limited telempathy. She can ‘vibration-speak’ (see description in sample section) when not in human form but, when she does so, her true emotions are simultaneously transmitted telempathically – She cannot lie convincingly using vibration-speak: The emotions that are automatically, involuntarily sent with the lie show it for what it is. (Remember Jim Carey’s character in “Liar, Liar”, who proved practically everyone lies to some extent on an almost daily basis? Although unlike him she can ‘say’ the lie, her transmitted emotions betray that lie instantly.)
She can’t read other people’s thoughts, but can faintly pick up the emotions of others (similar to Deanna Troi, an ‘Empath’ in ‘Star Trek: TNG’). This is called Telempathy.
She can’t tell whose emotions she’s picking up, unless there is only one person in range.
Skills: (what else can your character do?)
Vocal impersonation*. She can make her voice sound like almost anyone else’s when in solid human form*.
When in liquid or non-human form she can resonate a sine-wave at any* audible frequency.
After a lot of practise she can also resonate a pseudo-voice in this form, though it doesn’t sound quite human. ‘Speaking’ this way takes concentration, meaning she cannot lie convincingly and her true emotions become apparent as she ‘speaks’.
She is very ‘bendy’, like a gymnast or contortionist. In solid human form, she is limited as if by human bones and joints like anyone else. She couldn’t bend her knee or elbow backwards, for example.

Sample RP: (written by player. third person, past tense. in character.)
As she went through security into the departure lounge of Heathrow airport, Aquafina waved goodbye to her adoptive parents, who were holding each other’s hands as they waved back. A tear threatened to roll down her mother’s face, while her father was trying to be strong for her.
Among the other emotion-transmitters around her, Aquafina couldn’t be absolutely sure which were those of her parents, but she had a good idea given the looks on their faces.
“I’ll be fine, don’t worry!” She mouthed, facing her parents for the last time, before turning her attention to the departure lounge for her flight to Kosaka Island.
Within this lounge area, Aquafina sensed a lot of nervousness and apprehension in the air, along with a smattering of relief and curiosity as the passengers looked around at each other to see the telltale signs of other meta-humans. She felt those emotions herself too, but was pleased to not sense any hostility brewing at least. Her own apprehension subsided at the lack of hostile emotions in the room, and she settled herself into one of the seats as she waited to board.
While waiting for the plane to be ready to accept passengers, Aquafina also noticed a cat wandering the room. She didn’t pay it much notice, except to wonder idly whether cats were even allowed in airports…
The plane journey was quite uneventful, but Aquafina couldn’t allow herself to fall asleep and liquefy, so she read a book and watched the in-flight movie – Hellboy II: The Golden Army. There was a general sense of amusement filling the cabin as the passengers realized what film it was: Essentially humans dressed up as meta-humans and ‘saving the world’ with their powers. Aquafina casually wondered what would happen if she were to meet someone with the same powers as the leading female role in the film… Fire and water, after all, were not known to get along so well.
Soon enough, Aquafina was in a taxi from Kosaka airport to the academy itself. In order to make a good impression on her first day, she was wearing a black suit-jacket, starched white blouse, black 3-inch heals and a smart black skirt, the hemline of which came to just below the knee. Between her skirt and her heals, her legs were covered with black sheer stocking material. Aquafina’s normal sensibility for clothing in the current ambient temperature would lean toward her smart black trousers and comfortable black leather flat-healed shoes, but it was just warm enough for these to not be a necessity, and she thought she looked better in skirts anyway.
When the taxi arrived, the smartly-dressed girl looked up at the acadamy’s emblem integrated into the design of the huge metal gates. The taxi-driver was kind enough to fetch her luggage from the boot for her. She paid him and headed up to the acadamy’s lobby/reception area.

(More history and Physical Description) "I can no-longer sleep in a bed, nor even in human form, though I used to when I was much younger. (More meta-state description) "When I’m not in human form I breath through ma ‘skin’ (surface) like an amphibian so if I were sealed in an air-tight container I would slowly suffocate, indicated by ma ‘glow’ dimming proportional to ma remaining life-force. Much as I do not wish to die, zis method is vastly preferable to zee horror of complete dispersal."
"Though I can liquefy at will, it has as many drawbacks as it does benefits: I will feel ze full pain of any injury to ma human form two-fold, but I do not bleed. A cut in ma skin will look and behave like a cut in a piece of transparent rubber (e.g. it will open or close depending on how much that skin gets stretched) and will reveal ma true nature within it, but after 8hrs* sleep it will disappear when I reform to human. If I know beforehand that such an injury is about to occur and I have time to react, I can liquefy zee targeted part of ma body and avoid a lasting injury, but I will still feel ze pain of any cut through ma liquefied form’s surface.
A bullet through where ma heart or brain should be (or other impaling impact) won’t kill me unless I'm in human form, but it will feel like it has, due to zee immense pain I’ll feel, and it will make me dizzy for a while.*
An excessive impact to ma head will knock me unconscious, causing me to liquefy and turn into a puddle. – If any part of me liquefies in zee absence of ma will, it will splash to ze floor/ground as if turned to normal water (similar to that bit in “The Abyss” where the alien-controlled water-tendril gets severed). If ze floor/ground surface is non-porous, and flat or concave, it will puddle/pool; if zat surface is non-porous but convex, zee liquid will flow away as gravity dictates; if zat surface is porous it will sink into it, possibly irretrievably. If all of ma molecules sink into a porous material, I cannot recover wizout outside help retrieving me from zat material and returning me to a waterproof (but not airtight) container.

Her 'father' is British, while her mother was born French-Canadian before moving to France where they eventually met and fell in love.
Powers: (maximum of three. no godmodding.)
Ability 1 – Liquid manipulation:
- She can measure exact amounts of any liquid (by volume), to the molecule, by passing it through part of her body (example: hand). She’s learned the appropriate amount of molecules to make up exact weights of pure water, but liquids of different densities will have different weights for the same volume.
- She can purify any liquid to any degree using the same method as above. The level of purification required dictates how long it takes to achieve. Whatever is to be removed from the liquid remains on, or runs off, her skin (depending whether liquid or solid). Because of this, there are some liquids she’d rather not purify.
- She is learning how to control other bodies of liquid* like an extension of her own body (by touching them and concentrating) without changing their structure, but it is difficult and current attempts make her ill.
- She can manipulate the shape of her own body-liquid to mimic other forms, but these can only look like ice-sculptures (or water-sculptures) of what she’s copying, unlike her own human form which looks completely human. Also unlike her human form, she can’t maintain these other shapes very long* before returning to either human form or to a container.
Restrictions:
- When in human form, she wears actual clothing. This means it can be cut, holed, or otherwise damaged. More importantly, this also means if she changes form, her clothing doesn’t go with her. Annoying, and horrifyingly embarrassing, n’est ce pas?
- Complete dispersal = death.
- Reacts to radiation (as detailed in sample section).
- At temperatures approaching freezing, movement slows down considerably. Below 0 degrees Celsius, she is unable to move (except to vibrate). She can still communicate through vibration-speech and/or telempathically*; though at a range that dimishes proportional to how cold she is.
- Being frozen causes terrible pain to her.
- If she falls asleep, or is knocked unconscious, she will liquefy. This can be very bad depending what surface she’s on. If it’s a porous surface, she can lose mass, or in extreme cases could completely disperse (die).
- She can only regulate her body-temperature when in solid human form. In this form, her temperature is kept similar to normal human temperature.
- Because of her nature, meta-humans with the ability to control water can also control her water. She has been ‘meta-bullied’ in this way all her life, and this is a big part of the reason she wanted to come to Kosaka in the first place.
- In human form she can be killed in human ways. Mortal wounds are still just as fatal, except she can’t die from exsanguinations (blood-loss).
Standard Application-Style data:
- (Race) She is a water-spirit/elemental whose original form is a liquid that looks like slightly-glowing pure water. It is in this form that she sleeps, though while awake she mostly stays in human form.
- (More meta-state description) She can liquefy at will, so blade or bullet related injuries are usually relatively easy* to heal, given enough time.
- Her consciousness can only exist in one entity, so if a limb is completely severed, the severed part will revert to pure water. She can* ‘grow’ the limb back, but her overall mass will have dimished by the volume she lost, so she will appear as a smaller version of herself until she can acquire enough water-mass to return to normal.
- If she’s previously used the water-mass she acquires, it will take less* time to assimilate than pure water. The higher the purity of water, the easier it is for her to assimilate and thus it takes less time to do so.
- (Flaw to her physical nature) Radiation tends to breakdown her molecular cohesion. If she’s out ‘sunbathing’ for example, she will appear to sweat at about the point normal humans do and at roughly the same rate. Harmful radiation from other sources (like nuclear material) has the same effect but faster. Long-term exposure to either would lead to total dispersal (death), so she tends to get panicky after a certain point.
- If her mass is divided, her consciousness stays in the biggest available portion. No-one knows what would happen if she was divided exactly in half; One extra water-molecule either way would make one half larger than the other only by a minute amount, but it would be enough that her consciousness would pick that half.
- This is completely involuntary, she could not force her consciousness into the smaller half: It is impossible. Personally, she would rather stay ignorant of what would happen if she were divided in exactly equal parts, for one possible outcome would be her death. She could theoretically choose to find out using her own powers to achieve exact division, but she’d always ‘bottle-out’ and make one portion slightly bigger if she tried.
- (More personal description) She speaks with a French accent, though her English is perfect.
- (More Appearance) Her clothes look expensive, smart, and decidedly French.
Dorm Assignment: Co-Ed or Female-only. As she doesn’t require a bed, she could also fit in a ‘full’ dorm.
NB:
- As with all profiles I submit, items marked with an asterisk* are either optional/removable or adjustable to suit this board’s restrictions.
- Mods wanting something changed, or more details about something, are encouraged to ask Aquafina directly (as if she’s a real person) and she will respond in-character.
- Saami (Zack) will probably trust me with RPing a shape-shifting character, especially where the ‘general rule’ has not been compromised. I’d still appreciate her feedback though.
- I’ve only just found out about regeneration/healing being locked… If the limitations I already imposed are not severe enough, it can be changed so she can’t heal injuries to her human form at all, nor regenerate human limbs if they get severed.
