Adela Stern drifted through the courtyard, and smiled as she looked up at her fellows, gently resting her hand on one of the trunks. Looking up, it 'spoke' of the students, the days. Running fingers down the trunk, it shuddered slightly, and she let out a soft laugh.
Taking off her sandles, she let out a low, happy sound as she felt herself absorbing everything. The sunlight pulled through, and absorbed into her body. Her body was finally getting the 'food' it needed, practically starving, even though she had eaten in the cafeteria.
Adela leaned against the tree, and smiled up at the branches, sighing happily. What would make it better, was water...and someone to share this good day with.
'Where did that thought come from,' she thought.
"I'm getting soft," she commented out in her native tounge.

Septimus McAllistair - better known around the school as Seven or that wierd computer geek - had finally finished that work Sharpe had requested of him. Looking up information about all the meta-humans around Kosaka Island had taken him longer than expected, but he thought it was worth it to see the look of smug satisfaction on the older professor's face. Come to think of it, Seven hadn't asked why the physics professor needed the information.
It was sunny outside and it took a few minutes for his orange-tinged eyes to become adjusted to the sudden influx of light. Since it was just past lunch time and there were no classes being held at this hour, he saw other students milling about the courtyard. He made a note to himself to finish the homework that was due for his advanced physics course with Professor Sharpe later that week.
He had only been walking for about five minutes when he noticed Professor Stern about five feet away from where he was standing, apparently talking to a tree in a language he recognized as probably German. He stopped looking over at where two students who appeared to be late elementary school-age were playing jump rope and turned towards Adela.
"Hello." Seven's voice was stoic, even for him and he tilted his head to the side slightly as he watched Adela for a moment. "Do you mind if I join you? Or are you busy?"

Adela had been surprised by the stotic greeting, and she turned, realizing it could only be one person. She took his question into consideration, tracing a little on the tree. It took a few minutes, but she soon answered with, with a voice filled with ancient wisedom, and worn by time, even within her German accent.
"Hello Seven. No, I'm not busy, and you are more then welcome to join me. Besides, since you might be talking to Sharpe before me, please tell him two of his physics students plan on trying to cheat on something. This old man didn't catch what it was," Adela stated, gently patting the tree, smiling at Seven.
Her smile was genuine, but had no emotion behind it. It was the smile of someone who saw many things over her years, and very few were good. "So, tell me Seven, why are you out here?" she inquired, looking at him.

Seven watched Adela touch the tree, a most curious look in his eyes. To him, it seemed odd that anyone would touch a plant as such, but he had looked up profiles on each of the staff members, so he realized she was a tree spirit. Quite different than many of the other people around campus, Seven thought. But then again, so was he. Granted, he was a meta-human of sorts...
"Physics students should know not to cheat in Professor Sharpe's class." Seven nodded in response to Adela's comment about the students planning to cheat on a physics assignment or test. He had worked with the older professor long enough to know that no one would get away with cheating; the man had his methods for finding many things out and even Seven wasn't so sure he wanted to know what would happen if the professor knew. "And I did not know you could talk to trees."
He looked at Adela, but did not return her smile. His expression was not unfriendly, but it lacked a certain warmth that so many other people possessed and the college student blinked a couple of times. Not too far away from where the elementary school students played, he spotted the trouble-making Verity twins. No doubt they were up to no good, but this was no place for Seven to interfere.
"I am out here because Professor Sharpe told me that being around a computer for more than eighty-percent of the day was not good for one's health." Seven knelt down near where Adela was sitting and a rather pallid and jaundiced hand ran through the grass. Had he not naturally looked as such, he was aware that any professor would send him up to the hospital wing immediately for care. However, he rarely looked any different: he was jaundiced because of the computer chip implanted in his brain and almost pallid because he spent so many hours indoors. "Is that a bad thing?" His voice was nearly a monotone as he spoke; around Seven, one quickly learnt to pay attention to the words he spoke, not necessarily the tone of his voice as he said these words.

Adela smiled and shook her head a little. "Nein, I just sense what has happened against the tree. In a way it's like talking, but that's more because they can sense that I'm one of them. It's a common tie, and one that not a lot of people can understand," she answered, leaning more against the tree.
Her feet were bare before her, and the grass felt nice against her feet. With the sun being soaked into her, disolving it, and she wondered if she should get some water. She almost missed his explination, and looked at him, breaking herself from the drifting, comforting feeling of being in nature. She missed her tree for a moment, but focused on Seven.
Seven looked a little ill, but when didn't he? Adela, listening, gave a small shrug. "I wouldn't know Seven. I'm told not eating for days on end is bad for my health, but it's safe for me. Obviously, a normal person, in the loosest sense of that term, it would be unhealthy, so I think it depends on the person. If you want my personal opinion; it wouldn't hurt to spend an hour or two outside, but it's not completely unhealthy to stay inside all day if that's what your body needs.
Like...me for example. I can't stay inside for a long time, I need to go outside, but you might need to stay inside for a long time, and only go outside for a short time. That's the best I can give Seven," she explained, smiling at him.
Without much thought, she gently reached up to pat his head. Letting her hands drop to the ground afterwards and let out a soft sigh. She was relaxing in a nice place, and her eyes slid closed. Sliding her eyes half open, she looked at Seven.
"I'm not the best person to ask that too anyway Seven. I'm not human, remember?" she added, smiling a little.
